SELFIE I (2019)
SELFIE I (meaning to take a picture of oneself) is a project by should-I-know. The duo had a residency in Schotten in 2019. It's a small town in Hesse, in Germany. Everything took place as part of the FLUX Academy.
SELFIE I was about the fact that nowadays you see people everywhere taking photos of themselves. should-I-know did workshops on the topic at schools in Schotten and worked with the children and teenagers for some time. In the end, 2 school classes thought about digital self-portrayal with should-I-know. As a result, there were always pictures of 1 face made up of 2 faces. The pictures were exhibited in showcases in public spaces in Schotten.

Kilincel and Schaper's artistic offerings are also aimed at adults. "We want to give interested people an insight into the use of digital media and the resulting work processes," says the media artist, who specializes in "moving images" in his work with video films and photographs. As an illustrative example, he and his partner have created a joint historical portrait on the computer, in which excerpts from both faces are combined to create a new face.
